Only ten years ago, a runner spotted on the streets of Warsaw was still considered as something unusual. But only few years later between 2009 and 2010 the new trend of spending time jogging took over the capital city of Warsaw.

From then on it has all changed. According to a recent research, by "ARC Rynek i Opinia bieganie" running has become the most popular sport activity in Poland. Only in 2014 more that 36 percent of Polish people declared that they go jogging regularly. This number is constantly growing.

Although there were some events organized before 2010, now Warsaw holds a number of biggest running events in Poland, with Independence Run, Orlen Warsaw Marathon and Biegnij Warsawo as the most popular ones.

Independence Run is an annual event organized by city owned Sport Center Aktywna Warsawa. That 10 km November event aims to memorize Poland’s independence.

Orlen Warsaw Marathon has two offers in one event. First is the marathon run, and second 10 km run through the streets of Warsaw. It’s a huge event, which in terms of technical equipment is second placed in the world just after the New York Marathon.

Biegnij Warszawo is rated by the runners as the most favorite run in the calendar. 10 km event starts and finishes at Legia Warsaw’s stadium at Łazienkowska Street 3.

Among others, there is even a Vegan Ran held in may for the fifth consecutive year.
